Glenwood Allen Fields Collection, La Grange, NC. MRS. MOSES TO MISS NANCY COTTON LETTER, 1856 April 25/56 Mrs Moses will be under many obligations to Miss Cotton if she will come and help her quilt to-morrow. [envelope] Miss Nancy Cotton END OF DOCUMENT Comments: Mrs. Moses referenced in the letter is likely one of three Moses women identified in the US Census 1850 for Wayne County residing north of the Neuse River: Ann Moses; Elvy Moses; or Mary Moses. Mrs. Moses was probably local and resided in the Seven Springs area, given she indicated short notice in the letter of an imminent visit of 'tomorrow.' The letter was not processed at the local post office at the time; rather, it was hand-delivered.
