HENRY SUTTON TO NANCY SUTTON, OCTOBER 18,1861 County Craven N C October 18th 1861 Dear Nancy, I once more Seat myself to inform you that I am yet in the land of the living though I am not well i hav got the worst cold and Caugh I ever had in my life I shall try to come to See you about the last of next weeke or the first of the weeke after I Sent you two Dollars in my last letter I want to now whether you hav received it or not Write to me as Soonw as you can I Recd a letter From Father this weeke he Said he had just Recd a letter from Willy and She Said She had Just Recd one from Broth Wm he Stated that he and his Son was well and Doing well I hav nothing else to Say now So I will Close by endeavering to remain your Affectionate Henry until Death [envelope] To Mrs Henry Suttton By Mac Doity END OF DOCUMENT Comments: Brother William was Nancy's brother, William Cotton.
