WILLIAM R. BECTON TO WHITFIELD GRADY - 1858

Jan 17th 1858
Mr. Grady
I now state the Fact About this money was taken at your house on Christmas night 
last.  Mr. Joseph Tillman said his money was taken out of his pocket About 
midnight and he said that he missed his money as soon as he work up from sleep.  
At that time I had this gold in my pocket and did not let your son Lewis have 
this gold until the next morning which was Saturday morning after Christmas and 
I let Lewis have $6 in gold He gave me a bill
