September the 1st 1840
Dear brethering and sisters I have to address you and subject that I once 
thought & had a strong hope that I should be inabled by the sperrit of grace to 
guard against as well as many other weakenesses of the flesh tho it has been 
their will of God to show me that I had no power in and of myself and that to my 
shame and sorrow is so that I cannot bare the idea of disgraceing the Church of 
God with my misconduct any longer if our church discipline would support such 
conduct as mine and the church would fellowship me I could and would fellowship 
them if I thought myself worthy to do so; my transgression is this, I have 
suffered myself to be led astray by the flatry of a man who was willing to slur 
the church as well as me and I had not grace anough to guard against him and for 
that reason be please to race me off of your list as an unworthy member and pray 
for my souls Eternal well fare in that world that has no end. Elizabeath
