"Field Map of Lieut. KOERNER's Military Survey between Neuse and Tar Rivers
North Carolina"
July 28, 1863; drawn by H. J. MILLER
The map may be found online at the University of North Carolina Library
http://www.lib.unc.edu/dc/ncmaps/
Hold the cursor (without clicking) over the "Browse" pull-down menu, and
"More Options", and click on "Browse by Creator". Then select "K" and
click "Koerner, P. W. O. (2 items)".
A similar, hand drawn, map with the same names may be found at the same
website by searching for "Gilmer, Jeremy Francis" and then
"[Map of part of eastern North Carolina]".
Some names are spelled differently between the two maps.
The following 202 individuals are in Lenoir County, north of the Neuse River.
(103 on Sheet 1 and 99 on Sheet 2).
The coordinates are miles north or south and miles east or west of the
point "STA 0" at the northeast corner of Kinston where two penciled grid lines
cross each other. Count the penciled grid lines north/south and east/west.
Sheet 1 ends 6-1/3 miles west of the origin. The edge of the sheet is in poor
condition. Sheet 2 picks up where Sheet 1 leaves off.
