MISC - INTOXICATING DRINKS - 1851

NOTE: This document is not complete, is torn and appears to have water damage.  
It is not clear if it is a letter or a religious tome. 

Mention of intoxicating drinks is in Gen 9  20 & 21, Noah being ignorant of its 
effects, drank to drunkiness.  We have no account of his ever have drinking 
again.
2. The Priesthood forbidden the use of  wine. Lev 9 & 10
3. God makes provisions for all persons who wish to be strickly holy in the law 
of the Nazarites.  Num 6 chapters 1, 2, 3, 4
4. Sampson and his mother were total abstinence  people by God’s appointment.  
Judges the 13th chapter entire. Also 1 Samuel 1 chapter & 14 & 15 verses.
5. water mark – first written pledge known of Nehemiah 9 ?? chapter & 38 verse.
Water mark – rechatites ???, an earthly institution afterwards – water mark and 
torn for the next few lines so will inset a “-“at the beginning of each of these 
lines – and recommended by God. Jeremiah 38 chapter – evil effects of Drinking 
Proverbs 23  21, 29 30 – declared the worst poison Prov 23    31 & 3 & 10 – 
immorality and curse of drinking. Isa 5   22 & 24 – called good wine, that kind 
which would - ; and bad wine that kind which would – the former way the kind 
which the Savior – Cana of Galilee.  John 25  10

12.The use of wine is allowed under certain circumstances, about 5 times in the 
Bible and condemmed as a sin about 40 times.
13. Drinking, classed with the worst of vices. 1 Cor  5 & 20
