Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00023.html#0005630 March 1, 2014, 4:03 pm A Covenant of the Church of Christ at Pleasant Grove in Lenoir County For as much as Almighty God has been Graciously pleased to make known unto us by his Revealed Word of the Truth the Great privileges of his Blessed Gospel of our dear Lord and Savour Jesus Christ and both made us to Experience his love and favor in that he hath Called us from our state of Nature in Which state we were enemies to God by Wicked Works and Revealed in us the Hope of Glory therefore from the Better Carrying on of our Material Comfort and the Advancement of True Religion to the Glory of God and the praise of his Glorious name and Grace, We whose Names are enrolled in the Clerks Book being all of us Being Baptized on a confession of our Faith and belief of one ever (Blessed-crossed out) living and true God of a trinity offers in unity of Essence the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost substituting? in unity of the God head? and that the Eternal begotten son of God one with the Father in Essence and equal in persons in the fullness of the time Which the Father had appointed assumed human nature and took a body of flesh into and inseparable union with his divine persons and in the same did fulfill the love and died on the cross and thereby made an atonement for sin and satisfied divine justice and procured peace for sinners and that all mankind fell from the state of created innocence with and in Adams first sin and became liable to the Wrath of God by transgression of his holy Love in this state and condition having no hope of eternal life until by the same love convinced by this condition and the damming nature of sin from that root and so made to flee for Eternal Life by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Who alone is the Moderator of the new covenant and alone is the redeemer of Gods Elect without any Merit in us or any moving? cause on our part or any good forseen in us to move his mercy he was delivered to death for us to take away our offenses that we might freely by Justified by free and sovereign grace raised again for our satisfaction and in whom alone we have redemption through his blood from the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that he assends into heaven and sittith at the right hand of god From whence he shall come to Judget the quick and the dead at the last day and believe also the doctrines of the scripture in all orthodon? points viz. Baptism laying on of hands lenal? perseverance of the saints in grace this resurrection of the dead bodies of men in -- absence judgement together with all those principals and articles of faith according tot he scriptures. And we unanimously appoint for days in the year - oftener of thought necessary to join together in gospel church relation and fellowship and desire to give ourselves the Lord and to one another by the will of god 3 Cor 8th Chapter 5th verse as a Church of Christ and do solemnly and voluntarily and covenantly agree with one another to meet together in every lords day as many as conveniently can to the worship of God and to Edify one another as much as in liese? and to keep the day holy and watch over our families under our care that they do the same as behove to and becometh the gospel of our dear lord and saviour Jesus Christ whom we take to be our head and king prophet and priest and according to our ability to promote the Glory of God and our Happiness and the good of others as yet so as not to break our Gospel church relation by taking up ourselves any office dignity in the name of a minister or other thereunto called by voice? of the church according to Gods ordinance knowing that he which analeth? himself shall be abase and he that humbleth himself shall be enalted and that no man taketh this office to himself beithe that that is case?as was Aaron, jointly to maintain the worship of God and edifying of one another in love and god shall enable us by his grace to maintain the doctrine of his Blessed gospel and to regulate our practice by that God to watch over one another in the Lord philip 2 Chpt 4th verse and to admonish and to reprove one another in the lord with love and meekness as the word of god directs and as far as god shall enable us to be in our distress each to other and others which may hereafter join us and keep our own secrets being taught by the word of god that if thy brother trespass against the go and tell him his faults between the and him alone as the church is a garden enclosed as spring shut up a fountain sealed and not depart one from another irregularly or without a regular dismission and that we shall as god shall give means of Grace and the Institutions and the ordinances of the Gospel hoping and believing in Almighty God for Grace wisdom spiritual understanding guidance and ability to adorn this our profession and to perform duties and to bless us with Grace suitable to our privaledges as he in his goodness and mercy hath bestowed upon us in his house in all ages through Jesus Christ our Lord to whom be Glory in the church world without end.
