Casey, William B., Sergeant
Company C, 27th Regiment NC Troops
Resided in Lenoir County where he enlisted at age 23, April 25, 1861. Mustered 
in as Private and was promoted to Corporal on May 1, 1862. Hospitalized at 
Charlottesville, Virginia, October 18, 1863, with a gunshot wound. Place and 
date wounded not reported. Returned to duty on October 28, 1863. Promoted to 
Sergeant on October 1 1864. Captured at or near Sutherland's Station, 
Virginia, April 2, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released 
on June 26, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
