Herring, Thomas, Private
Company C, 27th Regiment NC Troops
Resided in Lenoir County where he enlisted at age 22, May 6, 1862, for the 
war. Wounded in the right eye at or near Petersburg, Virginia, on or about 
September 15, 1864. Reported absent wounded through December, 1864. Returned 
to duty in January-February, 1865. Hospitalized at Richmond, Virgina, March 3, 
1865, with a gunshot wound of the right side. Place and date wounded not 
reported. Captured in hospital at Richmond, Virginia, April 3, 1865, and was 
paroled on or about April 22, 1865.
