Sutton, William I., Sergeant
Company C, 27th Regiment N.C. Troops
Resided in Lenoir County where he enlisted at age 19, April 17, 1861. Mustered 
in with an unspecified rank and was promoted to Sergeant on May 1, 1861. 
Captured at or near Sutherland's Station, Virginia, April 2, 1865. Confined at 
Point Lookout, Maryland until released on June 3, 1865, after taking the Oath 
of Allegiance.
