State of North Carolina Lenoir County Be it known, That before me, Rich'd NOBLE, a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid, personally appeared Sarah HARPER and made oath in due form of Law, that she is the identical person named in an original certificate in her possession, of which (I certify) the following is a true copy- War Department-Widow's Pension I certify that in conformity with the Acts of March 3, 1843 and June 17, 1844. Sarah HARPER of N. Carolina widow of John HARPER who was a private and died on the ---- day of ----- 1808. I enscribed on the pension list at the rate of Forty Dollars-per annum, commencing on the 4th March 1843, and terminating on the 4th March, 1848, unless, the pensioner shall marry or die before the last mentioned date; in which case the pension is not payable after the time of such marriage or death. Given at the War Office of the United States this 5th day of June 1845. Signed: G. BANEROSS? Emanuel HOUNBISEGNO? J.L. EDWARDS, Commissioner of Pensions, acting Secretary of War, that she has not intermarried, but continues the widow of the above mentioned, John HARPER and that she now resides in Lenoir County, North Carolina, and has resided there for the space of all her life. State of North Carolina Lenoir County I, Richard NOBLES, a Magistrate in the county above-named, do hereby certigy that I have the most satisfactory evidence, viz: from personal knowledge that Sarah HARPER who has appeared this day before me, to take the oath of identity, is the identical person named in the pension certificate which she has exhibited before me, numbered ---- and bearing date at the War Office, 5th? State of North Carolina Cumberland County Be it known, That on the ---------- day of ------------- 184-, before me the subscriber being the proper accounting officer or agent for paying stipends under the act of July 4, 1836, entitled " an act granting half pay to widows and orphans, where their husbands and fathers have died of wounds received in the military service of the United States, in certain cases, and for other purposes," and authorized by said Act to administer oaths in certain cases, personally appeared Elijah FULLER, the Attorney named in the foregoing Power of Attorney, and made oath that he has no interest whatever, in the money he is authorized to receive by virtue of the foregoing Power of Attorney, either by any pledge, mortgage, sale, and assignment or transfer, and he does not know or believe that the same has been so disposed of to any person whatever. State of North Carolina Cumberland County Be it known, That on the 13 day of November 1845 before the ---------- a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, duly authorized by the ---- of said State to administer Oaths, personally appeared, Elijah FULLER the attorney named in the foregoing pension of attorney and made Oath that he has no interest to whatsoever in the money he is authorized to ----- by virtue of the foregoing power of attorney, either by any Pledge, mortgage, sale, payment or transfer and that he does not know or believe the sum has been so dispossed of to any Person whatsoever in hand and seal ----- this day and year written above mentioned before me. Signed: Elijah FULLER END OF DOCUMENT Military (2nd Document) United States of America State of North Carolina Lenoir County Be it Known, That before me, Richard NOBLE a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, personally appeared Sarah HARPER and made oath in due form of law, that she is the identical person who drew a Pension under the Act of 3rd of March, 1843, on account of the Revolutionary services of her husband, the late John HARPER at the rate of Forty Dollars and -----Cents per annum; that she now makes this affidavit for the purpose of drawing a Pension under the Act of Congress passed the 17th of June, 1844, entitled the "An Act in continue the Pensions of certain Widows" that she has not intermarried, but continues to be a Widow; that she now resides in Lenoir County, State of North Carolina, and has resided there for the space of Seventy years past; and that previous thereto she resided in the same county.
