BURNING OF THE COURTHOUSE

From The New Bernian, New Bern, NC – April 24, 1880

FIRE AT KINSTON

The Kinston Journal chronicles a disastrous fire which occurred in that town 
early on last Wednesday morning destroying all the county Records, besides 
several stores and damaging a large quantity of goods.  Among the business 
citizens who suffer by loss are, W. D. Rayner, Dr. J. P. Bryan, Miss Chadwick, 
Levi J. Moore, Wm. Harvey, Archbell and Co., Loftin & Rountree, S. H. Loftin, 
Geo. Rountree.

NOTE: This makes the date of the fire April 21, 1880
