The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) July 6, 1897
We hear that there was a fight Saturday on Dr J M Hodges place, in Falling Creek
township, in which Ivey Connor was badly beaten with hickory sticks by Isaac,
Sim and Ben Gooding. Connor was so severely beaten that it is feared he will die
from his injuries.
