The Morning Star, Wilmington, NC, Sunday 1/11/1885 1885
Nearly every neighborhood in the State wants a new county.  The fever
has struck this county.  If every new country that was wanted was
granted by the Legislature every man would be a county officer, and it
may be that is the reason they want so many new counties.  We have too
many counties now.
