According to the 1870 Census, Beverly was bc 1863 in Lenoir County which make his death ca 1936 FUNERAL OF B. B. AND CLARENCE D. WOOTEN AT THREE FATHER AND SON DIE THREE HOURS APART--- KNOWN TO MANY - ELDER MAN BROTHER OF MAYOR OF KINSTON A double funeral will be held at 804 East Gordon Street at 3 pm Friday. The rites will be for Beverly B. Wooten, 73, prominent farmer of the Fort Barnwell section, and his son, Clarence D. Wooten, about 50, Kinston watchmaker. Both were known to thousands in the section. No. 804 was the residence of Clarence D. He suffered a stoke Thursday forenoon, died at 1:10 pm. His father was critically ill at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clay Croom, across the Parrott Memorial Hospital park from the home of Clarence. Three hours after the death of Clarence the planter died. Beverly Wooten was a brother of Dal. F. Wooten, mayor of Kinston, and Mrs L. O. Moseley. He was a half-brother of J. Frank Wooten, solicitor of the Recorder’s Court and Lloyd Wooten, prominent businessman. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Croom and Mrs. K. M. Harris, Kinston. The deaths removed two popular figures. Clarence was permanently injured in an accident many years ago, after which he turned to watch repairing. He had quarters up and down Queen Street for years. His father was one of the best-known farmers in the section between Kinston and New Bern. Surviving Clarence Wooten are a widow, Mrs. Beulah Wooten; a son, John C.
