Lenoir County, NC - Obituaties File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Marth Marble BETTIE WHITFIELD BARRETT Copy found in the Collection of William I. and Clara Worthington Herring The Cemetery Records at Heritage Place give her dates as 25 December 1875 - 17 April 1947 MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD BY DAR FOR LATE BETTIE WHITFIELD BARRETT HERE An impressive memorial service was conducted by Moseley-Bright Chapter Daughter of the American Revolution at 10:30 am Monday at Maplewood Cemetery to honor the late Mrs. Bettie Whitfield Barrett of Waco, Tex. Mrs. Eugene Hamilton, regent, presided. Following a fitting tribute by the regent, an appropriate marker was placed by Mrs. J. W. Montgomery, chaplain, who read the collect from the DAR ritual. A memorial wreath of gladioli was placed on the grave by Miss Nonie Herring. The service was concluded with prayer by Rev. Jack Rountree. The deceased, a native of the community, was prominently connected in the section. After moving to Waco she became an active and honored member of the Henry Downs Chapter of the DAR. Included in the group of relatives and friends who gathered for the service was her daughter, Mrs. William K.
