Newport News - Alvin Ray Dixon, Jr. entered eternal rest on Friday, May 18, 
2007.

He was born in Lenoir County, NC, on June 18, 1947, to Louise Dixon and the 
late Alvin Ray Dixon, Sr.

Following his graduation from Savannah High School, Alvin attended Newport 
News Shipbuilding Trade School and became a licensed welder.

Preceded in death by his father, Alvin Ray Dixon, Sr., sister, Nettie Jean 
Dixon, and wife, Yvonne Dixon, Alvin leaves in loving memory his children, 
Marlon Dixon, Travis Carter, Alvin Ray Dixon III and Bianca Dixon; 10 
grandchildren; and special friends, Loretta Demerritt and George Davis.  Also 
left to cherish his memory are his mother, Louise Dixon; three brothers, Jimmy 
Wilson, Linwood Dixon, Charles Wilson; and one sister, Hattie Marshburn; two 
aunts, Mamie Williams and Eva Peterson, all of Grifton, NC; also a host of 
family and friends.

Home going services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at Swinson 
Funeral Home, Kinston, NC.  A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. May 25 
at The World Harvest Church, 6010 E. Pembroke Ave., Hampton.  Contact for 
memorial services, 757-327-1843.  In lieu of flowers, condolences may be made 
to Swinson Funeral Home, 208 E. Blount St., Kinston, NC 28501.
