B. Fields of this county, aged 38 years and 18 days. The disease which terminated the existence of this estimable woman was of a complicated character, of over twelve months duration. When first attacked, she was the pattern of health and cheerfulness and could scarcely have thought that the days of her existence were so near a close. Day after day did she become more feeble, and but a few months had passed, ere she began to anticipate her approaching dissolution. Prepared for the mournful event, she calmly awaited it with christian fortitude and pious resignation. She had been a member of the Presdestinarian Baptist Church for some sixteen or eighteen years and in her last trying hour, realized all the sweet enjoyment that flows from hope in Christ. As her end drew near she expressed a desire to return to the home of her aged father, there to die. She had remained there but a few days, when wishing to see a beloved sister living near, she was conveyed to her residence where in full possession of every mental faculty and with a clear view of death, she quietly and without a murmur resigned her spirit to its great author in hope of a blissful immortality. The deceased leaves a devoted husband and a large circle of sincere friends and numerous relations to mourn her loss. For many years she has lived on the very limits of Goldsboro and few ladies were more generally known or more extensively beloved. But she is now no more, and soon indeed must all her survivors follow her. May all who knew her and all who loved her be as well prepared for the event as she seemed to be, and may the Great Spirit so sanctify this affliction to her bereaved husband and sorrowing friends as to induce them all to prepare to meet their God, as we trust she has done.
