Lenoir County, NC - Obituary of Polly Jones Hines MRS. LOVIT HINES DIES; RITES TODAY The funeral of Mrs. Lovit (Polly JONES) HINES, 80, was held from Gordon Street Christian Church of which she was long a member, Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. Burial was in the family plot at Maplewood Cemetery. Mrs. HINES, familiarly known in a large circle of friends as "Miss Pollie?" died early Sunday morning following an illness of several years. The end came peacefully after a night of apparent rest. She caller her nurse about 5 a.m. and when the "attendant" reached her bedside she had quietly passed out. Mrs. HINES was the widow of Lovit HINES, one of the founders of the Hines Brothers Lumber Company and active in many civic and business affairs in Kinston. She was the second wife of the late Mr. HINES and is survived by five sons, William W., Willis, Robert and Charles of Kinston and Sgt. 1/C Lovit HINES of Colorado Springs and 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Five step children also survive. They are Mrs. W.D. (Mamie HINES) LaRoque, Mrs. Oscar (Clara) GREENE, and Phil HINES of Kinston, Mrs. Booker CUNNINGHAM of Wilson and Mrs. Willey SMITH of Goldsboro. Mrs. HINES was a native of Lenoir County, the daughter of the late William P. and Mary Grimsley JONES. She was long an active worker in and supporting of the Gordon Street Christian Church. She was a regular attendant at all the services until ill health prevented. The pallbearers were Oscar GREENE, Jr., Harvey HINES, Phil H. HINES, Jr., Lovit (Judge) LAROQUE and Phil CRAWFORD of Kinston and Robert SMITH of Goldsboro. Rev. Clinton BRADSHAW, pastor of the church, officiated and Mrs. T. Y.
