DUPREE Bk. 13, p. 466 23 Oct 1890 North Carolina Lenoir County This Deed made this 23 day of October 1890 by Hutchins PATE & wife Barbary PATE of Lenoir County, State of North Carolina to James E. DUPREE of said County & State; Witnessed: That the said Hutchins PATE & wife Barbary PATE for and in consideration of the sum of Fourteen Dollars to them paid by the said James E. DUPREE the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell and convey to said James E. DUPREE and his heirs or assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in said County adjoining the lands of Granville JOHNSON, deceased. W. H. MOORE, deceased, Thomas HARVEY & others. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land containing twelve acres more or less with all the appurtenances thereto belonging to the said James E. DUPREE, his heirs and assigns. And the said parties of the first part covenant that they are seized of the premises in fee, and have right to convey the same and warrant and defend the title to same. In testimony whereof we subscribe our hands and seal the the year above written. Hutchins (his X mark) PATE (seal) Barbary (her X mark) PATE (seal) I, J. G. PRICE a Justice of the Peace for Lenoir County, State of North Carolina, certify that Hutchins PATE & Barbary PATE his wife parties named in this deed personally appeared before me and duly acknowledged the execution of the same, and the said Barbary PATE being by me privately examined separate and apart from her husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of there said husband and that she both still voluntarily assent thereto. Witness my hand and seal this 23 day of October 1890. J. G. PRICE, J. P. State of North Carolina Lenoir County The foregoing or annexed certificate of J. G.
