R. MOORE & wife Mary A. MOORE to Pinkney H. SPENCE 6 Dec 1876 This Deed made the 6th day of December A.D. 1876 one thousand seven hundred and seventy six by W. R. MOORE & wife Mary A. MOORE of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina to Pinkney H. SPENCE of Lenoir County & State aforesaid, Witnesseth that the said W. R. MOORE & wife Mary A. MOORE in consideration of the sum of Seven Hundred and fifty dollars $750.00 have bargained and sold and conveyed unto the said Pinkney H. SPENCE of the County & State aforesaid, a certain tract of land situated in Lenoir County on the west side of Panther Creek, bounded as follows, Beginning at a lightwood stake on the run of Panther Creek, R. W. DAVIS corner & runs west with DAVIS line to a stake on the run of James BENTON Branch then up the run of said branch to a large black Gum, then west 55 poles to a stake in an old field, then South 54 poles to a pine Smithy JONES corner then with the said Smothy JONES line South 84 E 106 poles in a stake then with the said JONES line North 60 E 57 Poles to a large pine then East 22 poles to a Poplar at the run of Panther Creek, then down the run to the beginning containing one hundred five and one half acres (105 1/2) be the same more or less, together with one kitchen house on Lot not in possession of Zalphly? HOLLOWELL. To have and to hold the said tract of land with all its rights and privileges thereunto belonging unto the said Pinckney H. SPENCE his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. And the said W. R. MOORE & his wife Mary A. MOORE for themselves their heirs executors and administers, covenant and agree to warrant and defend the said tract of land unto the said Pinkney H. SPENCE, against the claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever. In Witness thereof the said W. R. MOORE & wife Mary A. MOORE hereunto set their hands and seals the year and date first above mentioned. W. R. MOORE (seal) Mary A. MOORE and his wife Mary A. MOORE the persons recorded in and who signed the foregoing deed, and acknowledged the said execution thereof by them as their act and deed, And therefore the said Mary A. MOORE bringing the undersigned privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her free consent in the execution thereof does declare on such her examination, that she executed the same voluntarily and without fear or compulsion of her said husband or of any other person and does still voluntarily assent thereto.
