A daughter of Jessse Oliver and Julia Taylor Sutton. She was born January 8, 
1892. She married William Gaston Fordham, Jr. and they had six children: Annie 
Branch Fordham, Mildred F. Williams, Cebie B. Fordham, Grover Woodrow Fordham, 
Cecil Earl Fordham, Clara Fordham Thomas. Caroline had a club foot and needed 
help raising the children after her husband died at age 39. The two boys were 
left deaf from a virus. Her daughter Cebie never married, stayed home and 
helped her mother raise the family. Caroline died February 11, 1973 in Oak 
Manor Nursing Home in Goldsoro.

Mrs. Caroline Fordham
Mrs. Caroline Branch Sutton Fordham, 81, of 1710 Richlands Road died Sunday in 
a Goldsboro Nursing Home. She was the widow of William G. Fordham (Jr.) and 
daughter of Jesse and Julia Sutton. She was a member of the Armenia Christian 
Church. Funeral services will be at 2pm Wednesday afternoon from Garner's 
Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Everigton officiating. She is survived by 
Grover W. Fordham of the home; three daughters, Miss Cebie Fordham and Ms. 
David Williams (living?), both of the home; and Mrs. John A. Thomas of Rome, 
NY; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and 
nephews.
