A copy of the principle Items of Simon Bright Will NOTE: This is a copied PARTIAL Will of the Simon Bright usually referred to as Simon IV who lived in Lenoir County, NC Item I - That my executors shall pay funeral expenses and also just debts out of the monies that first come in hand leaving the widow one third part of lands so as to include house and out buildings doing her natural life I give to R. F. Bright one half of land from his mother’s part but he shall not have possession untill his mother’s Death and if he should die before coming of age or without heirs then Simon is to have his share 4. I give to Simon W. Bright one half of land if any of its falls on his mothers part then he is not to have the use of it untill her death 5. I give to Widow all household and kitchen furniture, farming tools, stock of horses and mules, cows, sheep, hogs and poultry and family carriage 6. My will is that all my Negroes with the exception of Lemon ?? to be given to Simon W. Bright to the value by a committee of three men to be chosen by Executor which is of no relation to family to be divided so as to make six lots so that four lots shall be in value equal with each other and to be worth the average of three of the Negroes then the other two lots and that Widow have a draw out of the four lots which said negroes she draws give to her and her personal representatives forever Item 7 give negro boy Lewis to Simon W. Bright 8. My will is that the Balance of my negroes be valued by a committee of three men chosen by Exec to be just in five lots so that 3 of them shall be equal to each other in value so that the 3 lots shall be worth the average value of three negroes more than the other two and that his daughter Margaret shall have a draw out of the 3 lots 9. Eliza Parrott and Mary Bright to draw out of the three lots that ?? the largest and the other two lots to be equally divided between R. F. and S. W.
