Lenoir County, NC - Will of Eliza Jane Dunn, 1886 In the name of God I Eliza Jane Dunn of the County of Lenoir and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit I the said Eliza Jane Dunn being now in possession of one hundred acres of land purchased with my money and owned by me, and upon which I have lived for the last thirty eight years adjoining the land of Stephen Phillips, S.W. Dawson and the King plantation. I herby bequeath and give as follows: Item 1st It is my will and desire and I hereby give and bequeath to my son S.H.G. Abbott, fifty acres of land above mentioned, the said fifty acres, or one half of the land joining and next to the land owned by Stephen Phillips, being part of the land owned by me, and on which I now live. Item 2ns It is my will and desire, and I hereby give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Elizabeth Jane Dunn the remaining fifty acres or one half of the land above mentioned and owned by me and on which I now reside, including my house and lot. Item 3rd It is my will and desire, and I hereby give and bequeath to my Son S.H.G. Abbott my farming utensils, one cart, one ax, and one heifer calf. Item 4th It is my will and desire, and I hereby give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Elizabeth Jane Dunn one milk cow, one bed and furniture, one half of my bees and one linen wheel. 5th It is my will and desire and I hereby give and bequeath to my son S.H.G. Abbott one bed and furniture, the other half of my bees, one pot, one spider, and oven, also one linen wheel. Item 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Elizabeth Jane Dunn all the remainder of my house hold kitchen furniture. Lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my son S.H.G. Abbott my true and lawful Executor to carry out the true intent and meaning of this my last will and testament. In testamony whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this the 23rd Sept. Lenoir County - In the Superior Court State of North Carolina To all whom these Presents shall come Greeting: It being satisfactorily proven to the undersigned, Clerk of the Superior Court for Lenoir County, that Eliza J. Dunn late of the said County, is dead, having made her last will and testament, which has been admitted to probate, (a true copy whereof is hereunto annexed), and S.H.G. Abbott the Executor therein named, having qualified as such according to law: Now these are therefore to empower the said Executor, to enter in and upon all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased and the same to take into possession, wheresoever to be found, and all the just debts of the said deceased to pay and satisfy; and the residue of said estate to distribute according to the directions of said will.
