W. JONES and W. A. JONES, executors R. F. GREEN - Probate Judge I, LEWIS JONES of State of North Carolina, County of Lenoir, being of sound mind --- do this 3rd day of February 1858 --- make my last will --- Item 1 - - loan to my wife MATILDA during her natural lifetime or widowhood, my plantation on which I now reside --- then to son WILLIAM A. JONES Item 2 - to my son GEORGE W. JONES and my son in law ARETAS WILLIAMS a tract lying on marsh branch to be equally divided Item 3 - to my son GEORGE W. JONES - 4 negroes and their increase - viz - Margaret, Mary, Nero and Josiah Item 4 - to my son in law ARETAS WILLIAMS - 3 Negroes and their increase - Dinah, Julia, and Minevra Item 5 - to my son WILLIAM A. JONES - Negros and their increase - Monroe, Hannah ITEM 6 - to my wife MATILDA - 4 negroes - Cuffee, York, Nicey and Jim - at her death or remarriage said negroes to be divided equally among my three chidlren Item 7 - to my son WILLIAM A. JONES - one horse named Prince, two cows and calves, 2 steers, one bed and furniture, ten head of sheep, three bee hives, two sows and higs (sic), one half dozen chairs Item 8 - I loan to my wife my crops, stock, furniture, provisions, tools, to be equally divided upon her death or remarriage Item 9 - all my money and debts to be equally divided My two sons, WILLIAM A. and GEORGE W. JONES to be executors WIT SHERWOOD GRADY, A. O. GRADY The executors came to court on 2 November 1868 - said estate worth $800. They stated MATILDA lived in Lenoir County and ARETA WILLIAMS, now, dec lived in JONES COUNTY ESTATE OF LEWIS JONES Received in Lenoir County 1 November 1874 of W. A. JONES exec, with will annexed of the estate of LEWIS JONES, dec the sum of $22.50 in full of my right --- title claims on demand which I have a ??? as executor of my father's estate being my share of the proceeds arising from the estate of my grandfather, ARTUS JONES SR.
