I have tried to keep the spelling and punctuation like the original documents so misspellings are as represented. ________________________________________________________________________ This Indenture made this 22 day of November 1831 in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty one between Lewis Linebarger of the one part and John Fincannon of the other part all of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina Witnefseth that the said Lewis Linebarger for And in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Fincannon the receipt where of the said Linebarger doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted Bargained & Sold & by these presents doth hereby give grant bargain & Sell alien & confirm unto the said Fincannon his heirs & afsigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land Situate lying & being in the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina on the South side of of the South fork of the Catawba River Bounded as follows (viz) BEGINNING at a Whiteoak 8 poles from the River (old corner) runs thence south 71 West 49 poles to a Rock. Thence South 4 E. 31 poles to a Maple thence S71 W300 poles to a Blackoak thence S 59 poles to a Pine on the old line thence a new line North 71 E.263 poles to a White Oak thence N. 50 E.110 poles pafsing a large Whitoak to a Poplar Thence South 81. East 40 poles to a Rock Thence North 39 East 7 poles crofsing a branch to Hickory near a House thence South 75 E76 to an Ash on the bank of the River thence of the River with its meanders to the Beginning by estimation 177 acres Being part of The Lands sold by the Sheriff of said County as The property of Michael Rhyne as may appear of Record & with all the woods ways waters & water courses rents ifsues & profits of the aforesaid Lands & premises & all the claim property & demand whatsoever of the said Lewis Linebarger of in and to the Land & premises hereby granted to have and to hold the said Land & premises unto the said John Fincannon his heirs and afsigns forever and the said Lewis Linebarger for himself & his heirs the aforesaid Land & against himself & his heirs and no farther to the said John Fincannon his heirs & assigns will forever warrant and defend Just so far as relates to said Lewis Linebarger & his heirs of afsigns and no farther in witness whereof the said Lewis Linebarger hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal The day and year first above written Signed sealed & delivered} Lewis Linebarger {seal} in the presence of } Jacob Plonk } State of No.Carolina} Christian Rhodes } Lincoln County } January Session 1832 The within deed of sale was proved in Open Court by the Oath of Jacob Plonk recorded and ordered to be Registered (This signature is hard to read) Witnefs Vardry Mc.Bee C.C. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
