Clyde R. Hoey Delivered Address; Wm. A. Houser of Cincinnati, Ohio Also spoke. Friends and relatives of the North Carolina Houser Clan gathered in Bethphage Lutheran Church in Lincoln Co. Wednesday, Aug 6, for the annual reunion. The North Carolina Houser Clan was organized in August 1928, by the late L.H. J. Houser who was president of the Clan until his death in 1933. He was succeeded by his son, Evon L. Houser who the position until his death and it was handed down to his son, Blair Falls Houser, who is still carrying on in that position. The program opened at 10 o' clock with: Hymn----What a Friend we Have in Jesus-- by the congregation. Miss Fannie Farri was the organist. The devotions were conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. S. Miller, who used the 46th Psalm and followed in prayer. Song---My Country Tis of Thee...Welcome Address---Bobbie Heavner, grandson of C.O. Houser---Response---W.J. Altran---Duet: The More we get Together the Happier we will be---Bobby and Sarah Frances Heavner Recognition--William A. Houser, president of the Houser Tribe from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born and reared in Louisville, Kentucky, where he owned and operated the "Houser Publishing Co., " for a number of years. Mr. Houser was born in 1877 if tge Revolutionary War stock and attended night school which included regular business and law school. He was commanfer as a Chief Army Inspector in Washington in the last war and worked in that city for a period. He was sent to Rock Island Arsenal for a special training course for a period of seven weeks ending October 1940. Since January 1941 he had been resident inspector at Nobbitt Spake Institution, at Columbia, Indiana. Mr. Houser was accompanied by his daughter Miss Ruby Frances House of Cincinnate, Ohio. His address was received with much interest as he told of the Housers in Kentucky, Ohio and many other states throughout the union. He is at present, president of the Houser Tribe in the mid west. A memorial service was held by Rev.J.E.B. Houser in memory of C.F. Hunter who is related to the Housers by marriage and who died in Charlotte a few weeks ago. During the business session: Plans were made to erect a marker to the grave of Peter Houser. Edward Lee Beam, Vice President sent in his resignation which was accepted with regrets. Elections of Officers for the ensuing year as follows: Blair Falls House, re elected President, Junious Houser, Vive President; S.P. Houser re elected Secretary. Mr. Houser has been secretary since its origin, 18 years ago. H expects to publish a booklet in the near future of the "North Carolina Houser Clan", The Eagle Publishing Co., of Cherryville will be the publishers of the booklet and it will be something that every Houser and their kin will be proud of. C.O. Houser, re elected Treasurer. The president introduce the speaker Hon. Clyde R. Hoey who delivered a wonderful address in his usual oratorical manner. Quartette: Riding Along the Way, Belwood Quartette Dinner: A large crowd gathered around the long tables erected in the shady grove and enjoyed a real feast and fellowship together. Following the dinner the evening consisted of good singing and the recognition of the oldest members of the Houser Clan, Mr. John Houser who is 86 and Mrs. Mary Houser who is 88.
