Major Joseph Graham applied for revolutionary pension while living in Lincoln County, N. C., in October, 1832. He was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, October 13, 1759. He removed to Mechlenburg County, N. C., when he was about ten years of age. He stated that he "was present in Charlotte on the 20th day of May, 1775, when the committee of the County of Mechlenburg made the celebrated Declaration of Independence of the British Crown."
