STATE OF TENNESSEE, COUNTY OF MAURY On this 28th of March A. D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, Samuel Edggins aged 67 years, a resident of Maury County in the State of Tennessee who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Samuel Edggins who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain E. L. Gingles in the 7th Regiment of North Carolina Militia commanded by J. A. Pearson in the war with the Creek Indians in the year 1814 that he volunteered at Salisbury N. C. on or about the first day of February A. D. 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Salisbury N. C. on the 12th day of August A. D. 1814 . as will appear by the Original Certificate of Discharge herewith forwarded as proof . He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the "Act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States," passed September 28, 1850. Samuel Edggins (signed) Sworn to and subscribed before me the year and day above written, and I hereby certify that I believe the said Samuel Edggins to be identical man who served as aforesaid, and that he is of the age above stated. The discharge is apparently attached to the first page and was pulled back to copy the page. The document was witnessed at Columbia on the 10th of April 1851 by Wm. E. Erwin, Clerk. Columbia, Tenn RWBril 47 pays 148 92325 92743 ----------------- Samuel Edgging alias Edging STATE OF TENNESSEE, COUNTY OF HICKMAN On this 12 day of April , A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, within and for the County and State aforesaid, Samuel Edgging who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Edward L. Gingles, in the regiment of North Carolina Volunteers , commanded by Colonel Jesse A. Pearson in the war with the Creek Indians during the War of 1812 that he volunteered in Lincoln Co North Carolina on or about the 1 day of February A. D., 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of fourteen days or more, and was honorably discharged at Salisbury N. C. about the 1 day of August A. D. 1814 That he heretofore made application for bounty land under the act of September 28, 1850, and received a land warrant No. , for 80 acres, which he has since legally disposed of, and it cannot now be returned. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the additional bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act approved the 3d day of March, 1855. He also declares, that has never applied for nor received, under this or any other act of Congress, any bounty land warrant except the one above mentioned.
