Marcus C. Hoke merchant of Lincolnton NC was killed in an affray by Logan
Henderson on "Saturday last" [?09 Sept 1837] with a Bowie Knife, Mr. Henderson
acted in self-defense; first published in the Western Carolinian [issue date of
the Western Carolinian not given]; notice published 13 Sept 1837.

Additional Comments:
Some NC Deaths from the book “Genealogical Abstracts from Newspapers of the
German Reformed Church 1830-1839”, by Barbara Manning; extracts from the
newspaper The Weekly Messenger of the German Reformed Church, published in
Chambersburg, PA. “Notice” refers to the date of publication in The Weekly
Messenger of the German Reformed Church.  Added information by this submitter is
in brackets [  ].
