                  DEATH OF MICHAEL HOKE, ESQ.
   We regret to have to announce the death of MICHAEL HOKE, ESQ., of 
Lincolnton, which took place in Charlotte on Monday night, after an 
indisposition of about 10 days. He was enjoying his usual health when he came 
to Charlotte to attend oour Superior Court, when he had an attack of Bilious 
Fever. COL. HOKE was respected by many in this community. He has left a wife, 
who was absent at the North, and several children and a large circles and 
friends to mourn his loss.
