Ray Lowder S. Ray Lowder, 87, of 213 East Rhodes St., Lincolnton, died Saturday, March 6, 1993, in Lincoln County Hospital. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton with the Rev. Harold Leatherman and the Rev. Joe Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery in Lincolnton. Mr. Lowder, a native of Stanly County, was the son of the late A.A. and Martha Barrier Lowder. He was a retired superintendent of the Lincolnton City Schools. He was a graduate of UNC0Chapel Hill where he also received his master’s degree. He was a member of the UNC Marching Band. He organized the first Lincolnton High School Marching Band and also served as band director for a number of years. He was a member of the Lincolnton Rotary Club, the Advisory Board South Catawba Valley of Citizens Savings Bank SSB, Inc., the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, Lincolnton Masons, and Lincolnton County Shriners. He was a lifelong educator. Survivors are his wife, Wilma Troiano Lowder of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Sudie Boaz of Albemarle and Mrs. Essie Bell of Salisbury; and a stepson, Mike Troiano, Jr., of Charlotte.
