I, PHILIP ANTHONY of Lincoln County, state of North Carolina, being sick and weak in body, but perfect of mind and memory, thanks be given unto God therefore. Calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all me once to die, do make and ordain this my last will, testament; That is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God that give it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buries in ____ Christian burial at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting but w___ ____ ____ ____ ____ I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of god and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, demise, and dispose of the same in following manner and form. “I do give and bequeath Barbara, my beloved wife, her bed, and all the kitchen furniture, her saddle and the big mare with her filly. Also two cows and two heifers to chose out of my stock, and after my lawful debts be paid, all my ready money, notes and bonds for own use in her lifetime, and after her decease, the remainder, if any, to be equally divided to all her children, I also give her all the remainder of her father’s estate due to me to do with as she pleases.” “Item-I give and bequeath to my son John, my Nurenberger Bible and two hundred acres of land lying on both sides of Clark’s Creek where he now dwelleth. Also two tracts of land lying on both ?? of the Lick Fork, except one hundred acres to be run off with a straight line on the north side.” Item-I give to my two sons, Paul and Philip, my book called The Trumpet of Everlasting. Further, to my son Paul, two hundred and forty seven acres lying on the east side of Bodses Creek where he know dwelleth.” “Item-My son Philip, two hundred forty seven acres lying said Bodses Creek where he now dwelleth. “Item-I give to my son George my Basler Bible, my house clock, the large copper kettle, the still and a bed, which is coming from Pennsylvania, where Daniel shall have a right to still in his own ?Craneour? trade. Also the tract of land where I now dwell. It is to begin where the creek in old line running down the north side of the creek to a branch running from southward in the creek, then crossing and running a straight course to the old line, then with said line to Kingrich’s corner, then down to the creek, then along the creek to a branch running in from the north, then crossing the creek and running along said branch a straight course thr?? Both tracts to the old line.” “Item-I give to my son, Daniel, my book, The True Christian. Also the land lying on both sides of the creek below the above mentioned line with a hundred acres lining the same. “Item-I give to my son, Benjamin, my book, Zion’s Gospel. Also a tract of land lying on the south side, running with George’s line to the old line, then all ?? contains in said line with a tract of ninety acres. Joining it also, a hundred acres of the Lick Fork tract, to be run off as above mentioned.” “Item-I give to my daughter Frances’s three children, the note of one hundred and eleven pounds, seventeen shillings with as much more money to be levied and of my estate until it amounts to two hundred and twenty-five pounds. I also ordain my two sons, George and Daniel for these three above-mentioned children to divide above sum in equal shares when comes a??” [of age?] “Item-I give to Barbara, for her maintenance, a tract of land being into two deeds, one of Daniel Kingry, and the other of John Harman, and that tract of land lying between Kingry and the creek. I also ordain my two sons, George and Daniel as ?garteens? to take the same in their hands and lieb of her ?Nessions? of their sister and her children and after said Barbara deceased, to be equally divided to her children.” “Item-I give to Magtalena a hunting saddle and two hundred and forty- seven acres, giving Paul and Philip their monies, and if my son Daniel begins to build on his land, then his mother to give him twenty pounds in money.” “I also give to the Immanuel’s Church the useful vessels for holding the Lord’s Supper to be levied out of my estate.” “I also order that my loose goods to be equally divided, but so that Frances and Barbara to be left in the garteens.” “I also constitute and make and ordain my beloved sons, George and Daniel, executors of this, my last will and testament.
