What follows is his last will & testament. WILL OF SAMUEL ARTHUR - Lincoln Co NC 1794 In the Name of God Amen this fortenth Day of July 1794 I Samuel Arthur of Lincoln County in the State of North Carolina Being Very Sick and Weak in Body But of perfect mind and memorty thanks be Given unto God therefore Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is Appointed for men once to Die do make and ordain this My Last Will and Testament that is to Say Principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul in to the hands of the Almighty that Gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to Be Buried in a Decent Christian manor and Buriel at the Descretion of my Executors nothing Doubting but at the General Reserection I Shall Receive the Same Again by the Mighty power of God and as touching such Such Worldly Estate whose it pleased God Beliefs me in this Life I Give demise and Dispose of the Same In the following Maner and form ____Give and Bequath to Mary my Dearly and Beloved Wife Whome I chose for Executer With Joseph Gladen I bequeath to my wife the third of all my Estate as fore as a Branch on the south Side of the Long Branch and on the North Side of the aforeSaid Bunch (?) Branch Running up the hollow of the Said Branch after paying all my Just Debs and to my Son John Arthur I Give and Bequeth all the Land from the Aforesaid Branches Down the Creek Included in the Mill and all the Cleared (?) Land in Both Sides of the Creek with fifty Rod Wide of the Land of one hundred Eakers Joining Morrisses Survey ____.
