"In the name of God Amen. I George Bandy of Lincoln County State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and testament and do hereby dispose of my worldly estate in manner and form following, to wit: Item 1st: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sally one cow and calf and of my stock when the circumstances of the family and stock will admit thereof this will make her equal to what I gave my other children who have married off. Item 2nd: I give and bequeath unto each of my two youngest daughters viz Mahala and Susanna two cows and calves each or one cow and calf each and the value of another to be made out of my estate of such property as their mother can best spare. The reason why I give these two latter a cow and calf extraordinary above what I have given my former children is that since my affliction and declining years, they have staid by me and wrought my form and by their extraordinary labors and exertions have contributed much to the support of myself and family. Item 3rd: After these former bequests are made out of my movable estate the residue thereof I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife [space left in text] FINALLY at her disposal I also give her my form and freehold estate during her life and at or after her decease or sooner at her option, I do hereby devise and bequeath the some to be equally divided amongst all my children sons and daughters without destination, sons William, Thomas, George & John daughters Milley, Mary, Sally equally, Nancy, Catharine, Mahala and Susanna. And if my sons children do not agree on a division thereof the same to be put to sale on a resonable credit and the proceeds of the sale thereof to be divided equally among them. 4th: And I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint my son Thomas Bandy my sole Executor to execute this my last will and testament and in testimony hereof i do hereby affix my hand and seal October 6th 1822 publish and (?) by the said testator to be his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribing witnesses __?__ Maples, __?__ Young. Signed George (x) Bandy and Thomas Bandy, Executor." The will was proven in court, and so noted by Vardry McBee, Clerk of Court, Lincoln County. The land upon which George Bandy resided is now in Catawba County, North Carolina. [Vardry McBee later relocated to Greenville County, SC, where he became a prominent citizen and upon whose land the city of Greenville now sits. A statue of his likeness adorns main street, and McBee Street is so named in his honor.] ______________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
