Located in Lincoln County Wills, 1769-1926, call number C.R.060.801.2 Last Will and Testament of Thomas Beatty 1787 In the Name of God Amen this Seventh Day of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven I Thomas Beatty of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina Being in years and Sick in Boady But of Perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God for his Mercies therefore Calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all once to Die Do Make Ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and Recomend my Soul unto Almight God that gives it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent Christian Maner Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurection I shall Receive the same by ye Mighty Power of God. And as touching Such Worly Estate Wherewith it has pleased God to Bless me in this Life With I Give Desmise and Dispose of the same in the Folowing Maner and form. First I Give and Bequeath to my Well Beloved wife Margret the Land that I live upon During her life time with the five growing Negores pomfrey Lun (?) Pat and Tuney (?) Brista for the Seport of Raising the Children and the seport of the family to the time of her Death With the Housald Furniture the Horces that is on the Plantation and Cattel During her Life afterward at the Death to Be Eaqualy Divide Between John my Beloved Son and Thomas Except a Negro Boy Named Brista to William at my Wife's Death or as long as she Reams a Widow, oncly Reducting out of the stock and Negroes to my four youngest Datters the sum of fifty pounds to Each and a hors and sadel worth twenty Pound Each to be taken out of the Negroes and Stock if at the time that the [ two lines of text illegible] At my wifes Death of four hundred acres to fall to John my son and a Tract of Land that Lyes Above William Beat [-] that John Beatty Senr formerly lived on of one hundred and Ninty five acres I Leave and Bequeath to my Son Thomas W[-] another Tract of Land Lying West of my son Williams Land of one hundred acres and a tract of Land Lying on the Beaver Dam Creek to Be Sold and [-] in Raising money to Pay the four youngest Girls their Parts and I Leave and Bequeath to my well Beloved Son William a Negro boy Named Janey and Further I Leave and Bequeath to my Beloved Daughter Margret a Negro Girl Named Fillis: Furhter I leave and Bequeath to my Well Beloved Daughter Marey a Negro Girl Named Linda further I Leave to my Well Beloved Daughter Nancey a Negro Boy Named Isacc and What Debts owing in or Due to my Estate after Discharging what Debts is Due for my Estate I alow in asigning (?) to Rais the youngest girls Part and a hors and sadel with twenty Pounds to my Daughters Marey and nancy and Leave and Bequeath to my Daughter Jean the sum of ten Shillings and likewise to my Daughter Bety ten Shillings having Before Received their full Part the Negroes that Falls to any of the Legatee of the Land Not to be sold out of the Family or Disposed of upon and Portion (?) and I Doe appoint my Beloved wife Frances McCorkel and my son William Beatty to be my hole and sole Executors and doe fully Disalow disanull all and Every other former Wills or testaments Legasees and Bequeaths and Executor by me in any will Before Named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and None other to be my Last Will and Testament in Witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Day and year above written.
