Located in Lincoln County Wills, 1769-1926, call number C.R.060.801.2 Last Will and Testament of Thomas Beatty, proved 1831 In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Beatty Sen of the State of North Carolina and County of Lincoln being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God)do this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say, First I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Eighty-three acres of Land the same whereon he lives and Ten Dollars in money. 2d I give and bequeath unto my son John about seventy-eight acres of Land the place whereon he now lives during his lifetime and after his death to fall to his heirs at law and thirty Dollars in money and also Eighteen dollars to buy his daughter Pamella Adaline a saddle when she arrives at twelve years of age. 3d. I will and bequeath to my two sons James and Alfred one hundred and sixty-six acres of my old tract whereon I now live including such party of my meadow land as will be to the right hand of a line running from the fence at the mouth of the ditch along the right hand side of the old meadow to the lower end of said old meadow. Thence a strait line to Conners corner at the forks of the creek. To be divided equally between them. 4th I will and bequeath unto my wife Sarah during her life or widowhood the Martin tract and the balance of my old place after deducting the hundred and sixty-six acres as above together with the old meadow and also during her life or widowhood to have Pat and Sarah and two horses Cobey and Jolly and all my stock of Cattle sheep and hogs and all my farming tools and if Pat should out live her I will that she should choose her own home among my children. And after her death or widowhood the land and all the other property to fall to my two sons Franklin and Edmund equally 5th I will and bequeath to my daughter Caroline one hundred Dollars in money. 6th I will and bequeath to my daughter Avaline one Bed and furniture one white faced cow and calf and one hundred dollars in money 7 I will and order Joe and the wagon to be sold at [-] months credit and the monehy to go to pay off my Debts and any balance of debts to be satisfied out of the crop in the fall and other property above willed to my wife which she may think best to spare. 8th I will and bequeath to my son Alfred a sorrel mare called Nance. 9 And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friend Alexander McCorkle executor of this my last will and testament.
