No 22, Pkg. No. 314, recorded in Will book E at page 312 [I have edited the will format into paragraphs for ease of reference. All other spelling and punctuation is as in the original] In the nam of God Amen I William Gaston of Chester District in the State of South Carolina being sick & weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make & ordain this my last will and testament Viz principally & first of all I recomend my soul to the hand of God who gave it, and my body to the Earth to be buried in a desent manner at the Descretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but that I shall receive the same again at the general resurection by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly goods wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner. Imprimus I desire that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid & sattisfyed. I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Ann Gaston all that tract of land adjoing John McKelveys land and also all my personal property of every kind (Except as hereafter Excepted) to her own proper use & behoof, and to her heirs and assigns for ever. I further give bequeath to my loving wife aforsaid all that plantation on which I now live with all my lands adjoining thereto bound on James Lewis lands and on lands belonging to James Gaston and James Feemster, John Boyd Love and on the Back on the deviding ground between turky Creek and Susey Boles branch for & during the time of her natural life, and after her death to go to my son William Gaston & to his heirs and assigns forever. I also give and bequeath to my said son William Gaston all that tract of land on big creek of Saluda, which was originally granted to Robert Gaston, and my negro man Norman & my survey Instruments to him and his heirs and assigns forever-----and my will is that my other lands Viss - my plantation on Susey Booles branch and lands ajacent thereto & one other tract on Wilsons branch, and one other tract adjoining the tract last aforsaid be sold sold when my Executors shall find it conveniant and the money arising from such sale to be Eaqualey devided between my five daughters Kesiah, Ann, Susannah, Martha and Elisabeth - - I give and bequeath to my son James Gaston and my three daughters Easter Akin Margret Hoskins and Jane Davis Eight dollars to each of them, to be raised out of my estate - - I give & bequeath to my daughter Anna my negro girl Lette dureing the life of sd Anne, and after her death the said negro girl & her increase if any, to go to such Children as the said Anne may leave. I give & bequeath to my daughter Martha my negro boy Harry, dureing the life of the said Martha and at her death to go to such Children as she may leave. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah during her life my negro girl Dorcus and after the death of the said Susannah the said negro girl & her increase if any, to go to such Children as the said Susannah may leave- - - I give & bequeath to my daughter Elisabeth dureing her life my negro boy Danil and after her death to go to such Children as she may leave. I give and bequeath to my daughter Kisiah the first Child that my negro woman may hereafter have, during the life of the said Kisiah and after her death to go to such Children as she may leave I also bequeath to my daughter Kisiah a certain mare which is now in her possession in order to make up any deficancy supposed to be in the value of the negro willed to mher, & to make her Eaqual with her sisters and I do herby ordain dupute & constitute my Loving wife Anne Gaston to be Executrix and my son Willliam Gaston and my friend John McCrary to be Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disannuling all former wills testaments and biqusts by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & fourteen and in the thirty Eighth year of American independence [Interlined before assignd in first page & fourth line from bottom (the words Norman curveying instruments & in the second line the words and land adjacent thereto and on second page sixth line the words and Jane Davis] N B the Legacies Left to James Gaston Ester Akin Margret Hoskins & Jane Davis to be raised from the sale of the lands ordered to be sold /s/ Wm.
