James Watson - 1771 - Lincoln Co., NC - Wills Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by Dianna German Anderson, DFaeAnder@aol.com James Watson Will 19 Jan 1771 In the name of God AMANE January 19, 1771----I, JAMES WATSON, of Trion County North Carolina being sick and weak of body but of sound mind an memory thanks be given God therefore, calling to mind the mortality of the body and that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. That is to say principaly and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Allmighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and deasent manner at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the generall resurrection I shall receive the same again returned to my soul by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldy estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form---- First; I give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM the sum of money to be saved out of my estate. Second; I give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter SUSANAH five shilings sterling-------- Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my sencond daughter ELSE one hundred and fifty akers of land that joyns THOMAS SKOTES? land----Fouthly I give and bequath unto my third daughter ELISABETH the sume of five shilings sterling money-------Fifthly I give and bequeath to my grandson JAMES WALKER the sum of ten pounds proklamation money to be levyied out of my estate-----Sixly I give and bequeath unto my grandson THOM SKOOT the whole money I have paid for him for which I have got a detachment for his land and sume other things all which I desire my exectuors to return to him If he (means?) to personally enjoy them, if not let all be sold and equally divided among the legatees above named WILLIAM and ELSE. I do ----- make and ordain my son WILLIAM WATSON and SAMUEL WATSON to be my executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revock and disanull all and every other former testament, wills, -----, and bequests retifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the year and day above written.
