The Last Will and Testament of James Little James Little 1814 Whereas I James Little of the state of North Carolina and Lincoln County being now weak in Body but of sound and perfect mind memory and knowing that It is appointed for all men once to die do think to constitute and confirm this my last will and testament In manner and form as follows- Viz after the payment of all my lawfull debts I do give and Bequeath unto my lawfull and well Beloved wife Margaret Little the house that she now lives in during her Natural life with all the furniture excepted so much as shall Be named hereafter and all rights and privilege thereunto Belonging and her choice of two of the horse Creatures together with the three oldest Negrows known By the names of Wm Pat and Pall. Secondly I do give and Bequeath unto my Eldest Son John Little the Best suit of My Clothing. Thirdly to my Eldest daughter Isabela Baldridge I do give and Bequeath to her her heirs and assigns forever one Negrow girl Named Ratchel- fourthly I do give and bequeath unto my son Henry Little one plough and tecklings. Fifthly I do give and Bequeath unto my son James Little one plough and teckling. Sixthly I do give and Bequeath unto My daughter Jean Little one hundred and twenty two acres of land The plantation which I now live on with part of the Improvements Beginnin at a hickory on the Bank of the river Henry Littles Corner thence running up the river Bank untill it will admit of a straight line from thence Untill James Littles line for Compliment from thence with said line to a dogwood John and Henry Littles corner from thence running with Henry Littles line to the Beginning to her and her heirs and assigns forever after giving her mother a deacent maintenance during her natural life further one sorrel mare and sadle one Bed and furniture. Seventhly, I do give and Bequeath unto My son Alexander Little the remainder of the tract of land that I now live on By estimation two hundred acres to him his heirs and assigns forever. Eightly I do give and Bequeath to my youngest daughter Peggy Little three Negrow girls known by the names of Sina Mina and Cloe to her her heirs and assigns forever with hone horse and saddle one Bed and furniture. Ninthly I do allow the Still with all the Utenseals therunto Belonging for the convenience of the family to use when needed for Either grain or fruit. Tenthly and lastly I do Make ordain and constitute and appoint my friend Captain Capn John Ried and my son Henry Little Executors of this my last will and testament In witness whare of I do to this my last will and testament Set my hand and Seal this 3d day of February 1812 Signed Sealed published Jas Little (seal) And declared In presence of Samuel D Reid William White Jurat In as much as since the ratification of the above instrument, my beloved wife has died, it is now my will that the above negroes Will Pat and Poll named to her, be transferred to my daughter Jean to her or her heirs forever also that my still and furniture be sold and applied to the payment of my debts. It is also my will that all my property real & personal not designated to my heirs above be sold and applied to the payment of my debts. P.S.
