Located in Lincoln County Wills, 1769-1926,call number C.R.060.801.16. Sherod S Little 1852 The Last Will and Testament of Sherod S Little I Sherod S. Little of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina being of a sound and disposing mind, but considering the uncertainty of my Earthly existence, doe make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say. First, that my Executor herinafter named, shall provid for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and to pay all funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomsoever owing, out of the moneys that may first come into his hands, as a part or parcel of my estate. I desire my executor to sel off on the North part of my plantation, adjoining the lands of John Little and Mrs. J.E. Graham a suficient amt to enable him to pay all my just debts, also to sell a lot of land lying in the State of Georgia which I drew (?) while a resident of that state and the proceeds to be disposed of as herein directed. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Eliza, the remaining part of my plantation whereon I now live during her natural life or widowhood, also one bed and furniture one cow and calf and my stock of hogs. I give and devise to my Eldest son William twenty dollars to be deducted out of the price of the mare he got which I rate at sixty dollars. I give and devise to my Daughter Sarah twenty five Dollars out of the sale of the lot of Land in Georgia and should the sale of said land amt to more, then to have all equal portion with my other children. I give and devise to my daughter Imanda wife of Jefferson Gant, twenty dollars out of the sale of the land in Georgia. I give and devise to my Daughter Maryann ten dollars out of the sales of the Georgia land. I give and devise to my daughters Jane and Harriet fifteen Dollars Each out of the Sales of the same Georgia land. Should there be more arising from the sales of the Georgia land those herein devised to be equally divided between my children herein named. I give and devise to my two sons Robert and John the plantation whereon I now live (after the death or mariage of my wife Eliza) forever to be equally divided between them. Lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint my trust friend Robt. H Abernathy my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and (?) thereof hereby revoking and declaring uterly void all other wills and testaments by me hereto fore made, in witness whereof I the said Sherod S Little doe hereunto set my hand and seal this the 21st day of August 1852.
