I James Luckey of Lincoln County and State of North Carolina being Very Sick and weak in body. but of perfect sound mind and memory, thanks be to Almighty God for the Same; and calling to mind the mortallity of my body: and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die; do make ordain Constitute and Appoint this and no other to be my Last will and testament; that is to say first and principally of all. I recommend my Soul to Almighty God; who gave all, and as for my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and Decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned; nothing doubting but I Shall Receive the Same at the General Resurrection by the power of Almighty God; and as touching Such Wordly Estate wherewith it hath pleased the Lord contrary to my deserts to bless me with in this life. I give dismiss and dispose of in the following form and manner Viz~. Item:- In the first place I desire that all lawful demands against my Estate be truly Satisfied. Item: I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Sarah Luckey this house where in I live with one bed and furniture one white cow and whatever property that is here which she possesst before wedlock. To possess during life and to dispose of according to her own pleasure. And also the use of whatever household furniture and kitchen utensils which belong to me during her widowhood or stay here and twenty bushels of Corn and six of wheat yearly while she remains a widow and lives in the sd. house or on sd. plantation and whatever cotton she stands in need of with the use of the negro woman Hannah. Item I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Luckey five shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my son Robert Luckey five shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my son William five shillings. I give & bequeath to my grandson James Luckey son of William Luckey five pounds off my Estate two years after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Esbel Baldridge five shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my son John Luckey five shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my son James Luckey a bed and furniture. Item I give and bequeath to my two sons Hugh Luckey and James Luckey this tract of land whereon I live. Containing one hundred and ninety eight acres to be equally divided between them. I give and bequeath to my son Hugh Luckey a black horse but he is to pay part of the price of him when he remains dece and what was of my stock and movables I desire to be equally divided between my said sons Hugh and James except three sheep which I give Hugh’s three oldest children. I likewise appoint my son Hugh Luckey and David Williams to be Executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby disallow revoke and disannul all former wills and testaments granted or bequeath by me heretofore Confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness wereof I have hereunlass my hand and offer and my seal this day and date above written.
