Date May 8 1791. In the name of God amen, the eighth day of May, one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, I Phillip Wissanant of the county of Lincoln and the state of North Carolina, black smith being very sick & weak of body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to God mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make & ordain this my last will and testament first I give & bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Ana Whisanant all my household furnature enduring her widowhood or her natural life. Likewise I give my wife two cows and calfs and my black mare and her own saddle and bridle and all my sheep to have them enduring her natural life and after her my wife deceases her daughter Barbara Helm is to have one cow and calf and one bed. 1 jorn pout at ten shilling price and one at eight shilling price and one new spinging wheel and I also will that my just debts be paid out of my estate and I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Conrad Wissanant the sum of five shillings to be raised and levied out of my estate and I also give and bequeath unto my loving son Adam Wissanant 125 acres of land he now lives on according to the dividing line and I also give and bequeath unto my loving son George Wissanant my bay mare & I also give and bequeath unto my loving son John Wissanant the sum of 5 shillings to be raised & levied out of my estate I also give & bequeath and give unto my son Henry Wissanant in the hands of Adam Wissanant a horse to the value of 10 pounds North Carolina currency he the said Henry is to live with Adam until he is at the years of 21 then he is to receive the horse and the said Adam is to give Henry afreedom state to the value of six pounds currency one Mattick and axe and I also give unto my daughter Mary Magdalene Whitener the sum of 5 shillings to be paid out of my estate & I also give unto my daughter Barbara Heavener the sum of 5 pounds North Carolina Currency to be raised out of my estate & I also give to my daughter Elizabeth Corver the sum of 5 pounds Current money to be raised and levied out of my estate. I also will that my plantation I now live on be sold and all my just debt to be paid the remainder of the money my wife is to have at her command enduring her natural life if any should be left at her decease it shall be equal divided among all my children and her daughter Barbara Helm and I also nominate and appoint my trusty and loving son Adam Wisanant and my dearly beloved wife Anna Wisenant to be my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have unto set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Philip Wisanant signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Joseph Paxton couldn't read Michael Buff His estate was settled in 1803.
