Joel Williams 1823 Last Will and Testament of Joel Williams In the Name of God Amen, I Joel Williams of the County of Lincoln in the State of North Carolin being in a very low condition by severe affliction, but of Sound Memory at present, thanks be to Almighty God, for the Same and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make constitute and appoint this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I Recommend my Soul to Almighty God, who gave it, beseeching his most gracious acceptance, and as for my body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned. And touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me with in this life I desire to dispose of in the form and manner following. First I desire that my debts be paid. Item I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Peggy Williams all my household furniture and stock to possess during her life, to raise the children and at her decease, to be Equally divided Among my daughters whose names are Elisabeth A, Peggy, Vicy, Anna. Item I give and bequeath to my son thomas my farming utencils, I also appoint my son Thomas Williams and son in law Benjmain Hull Executors of this my last Will and testament, Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelth day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty three.
