John Wilkinson 1835 In the Name of God Amen I John Wilkinson of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina being of sound Mind and memory blessed be God for the Same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows First I give and bequeath to my loving wife-Lettis Wilkinson her own Bedding and furniture and all my dresses furniture and the Chairs belonging to the house and one Chest that she brought with her and wash pot and dinner pot and too if she wants them and too ovens if she chooses and bake pan and one small pot and too cows of her choice and five head of sheep and three breeding sows and three shotes (?) and one Horse of her Choice the Gray Horse escepted, and three Negroes Lucy and Charles and Mathes during her lifetime or widowhood and water pails and Churn. I also give to my wife Lettis the upper part of my plantation where I live, including my buildings and running down to a line of a tract of Land that I bought of Francis McCorkle the upper line during her Life or Widowhood and two pair of guis (?) for a horse with too Barrshur Clows (?) and too shovel plows and Coffee Mill and the frying pan, and if Mathes don't be obedient to his Mistress the Executor to sell him to the highest bidder and I give to My wife Lettis one table Firedogs and shovel and one sythe and Creadle and Maing sythe her choice and dung shovel and spade and one Iron tooth Cotton Marrow (?) and Cutting box and knife and one Mattock and too Axes and too hers her choice and for the support of my family sixty bushels of wheat, and her sud (?) wheat besides and all the Beacon for this present year, also I give to my youngest Daughter Martha Ann one Bead one furniture I give to my daughter Issabella one bead and furniture and one Chest and twenty-five Dollars to my too last named Daughters, to make them equal with the others that is married off. Also I give to my son Frances one hundred and fifty acres of the lower end of my plantation joining Lands Gabrel Sherrill and Gilbert Milligan and others not to Enter fare with aforesaid Lands I willed to my Wife-till after her death. Also I give to my son Frances the Gray Horse saddle and Bridle and one Bead and furniture, Also I give to my daughter Margaret Fifty dollars to make her equal with the rest of my daughters. I also give to my Daughter Elizabeth one Negro Man named Anderson valued at six hundred dollars by her paying two hundred and thirty-six Dollars back. I also give to my Daughter Sarah Emly one Negroman named Wilson valued at six hundred Dollars by her paying too hundred and thirty-six Dollars back. I also give to my daughter Dovey one Negro woman named Mary and her Increase, valued at Five Hundred Dollars by her paying one hundred and thirty-six Dollars back. I also give to my Daughter Isabella one Negro girl named Vice and her incrace valued at five Hundred Dollars by her paying one hundred and thirty-six dollars back. I also give to my son Alexander one Negro Man Named Joe by paying fifty Dollars back. I also give to my Daughter Marth Ann one Negro girl named Susan and her incrace valued at three hundred Dollars. I also give to my son Francis one Negro girl named Luncinda Suffira (?) and her incrace. I also give to my Daughter Margaret three hundred and sixty-four Dollars in money to be paid in too years after the get them in possession the Negroes and Horses is to remain on the plantation this season till the Crop is brought in if any of them don't take them at the valuation the may be put to sale to the highest bidder the time of the sale, at the death of my wife Lettice the Land and the Negro mathis to be sold at publick sale and to be Equaly Divided amongst all my Children Except my son Frances who is to have one hundred Dollars more than any of the rest. And I also give to my Wife Lettice one Womans saddle and any of my property not willed to be put to sale at the expiration of this year. I also give to my Wife Lettice one Iron tooth Harrow to be sold at her death with the rest of the property. I also give one walnut table to the use of the family till my Daughter Isabella moves a way and then it is to be my Daughter Isabella property. My Wind Mill to remain at this place for the use of my family at the death of my Wife I allow Lucy and Charles to choose there home amonghts any of my Children, the property that I willed to my Wife Except my Land and Negroes I allow to be at her own disposal I also give to my Daughter Marthe Ann the pet Calf the two Harrows that I willed to my Wife at her death to go to my son Frances.
