MACON COUNTY, NC - CEMETERIES - Franklin Baptist Cemetery ==================================================================== Surveyed August 30, 2002 by Lea Holland and Willadean Holland Cemetery is located on White Oak St. in Franklin. Cemetery is in very bad condition. Obviously, there has been some vandalism and theft in the cemetery. Several footstones are missing and many of the stones seem to be out of place. There are many stones that are very old and worn. We used the 1940 WPA survey and Brian Strum's 1988 survey to compare this one to, with hopes of being able to identify some of the graves. There were at least six graves that were listed on the 1988 survey (included at the bottom of this) that could not be located in our current survey, and there were several "graves" that we couldn't find markers for. Also, the 1988 survey describes the tombstones in greater detail. Survey starts in far left corner, behind Macon Co. Funeral Home W. R. Franks August 25, 1883 - March 27, 1910 Hamilton H.
