MACON CO., NC - CEMETERIES - McConnell Cemetery, Franklin, NC ==================================================================== Surveyed March 6, 2005 by Dawn Watson Directions: From the red light at McDonald's in Franklin, go south on Hwy. 441 about 7/10 mile. Turn left onto Wide Horizon Drive. Go about 4/10 mile. Turn left onto Henson Road. Go about 3/10 mile to a sign with several numbers and arrows on it. Turn right. The cemetery is less than 1/10 mile along this road on the right behind the remains of a barbed wire fence. DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS, and please do not block any driveways without asking permission first. Notes: This cemetery has not been used in nearly half a century. It is overgrown, and many trees have fallen and knocked over markers. I could not find two marked graves which Horace J. Hurst mentioned in his 1940 Historical Records Survey: R. H. Owenby Feb. 13, 1825 Sep. 20, 1910 Sarah E. Owenby Jul. 22, 1829 Mar. 16, 1902 There may be other gravesites which I missed. The following record reflects the actual writing on the tombstone.
