Macon County, NC – Andrew Welch & William Thomas - Act to Erect Gates, 1829 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act to authorise Andrew Welch and William Thomas, of the county of Macon, to erect certain gates therein mentioned Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Andrew Welch and William Thomas, of the county of Macon, shall and may have power and authority to erect each of them one gate on their respective plantations across the road passing through said plantations and crossing the Tuckeseegee river; which gates, when erected, shall be under the same rules and restrictions, and be subject to the same tax as other gates across public roads in this State; any law, usage or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.
