This Indenture Made this 31st Day of Januay 1840 between Avelina
Carpenter of the County of Macon and State of North Carolina of the
one part and Laben Long of the County of Macon and State afore Said
of the other part Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the
Sum of fifty Dollars in hand paid the Receipt Where of is hereby
Acknowledged have Barganed and Sold and by these Presents do bargain
and Sell and Convey unto the Said Long all and Every part of my
Enterest that I have and had in the legasees of My fathers Estate
and all the Interest in the Rents of all the lands that my father
had Subject to Rent or lease Which my father owend and Willd to me
also my part of the Wilkens plase if it Shaed fall Back to the
Estate of My Deecesed fathers Legatees and I further Relinquesh all
and every part of my Legesee that was willed to me by my Deceased
father to Said Laben Long his heirs and assignes for Ever Except
What is an Was in my Guardians hands Z J Thomas and I further Warrnt
and Will ever Defend the Same unto the Said Laben Long his heirs and
assignes &c and Bind myself my heirs and assignes &c to Warrant
the Same Clear and free from all and Every person What ever in
Witness Where of I have Set my hand and Seal the Date above

North Carolina Macon County Court of please and quater Sessean March
Sessean 1840 the Within deed from Avalina Carpenter to Laben Long
for all her Interest in her fathers Estate Was Duly proven in open
Court by the oath of Saul Smith a Subscribing Witness thereunto and
Recorded in Book C page 44 for Registration
