M. Ritchie & Co. assignees, have given and granted, and by these presents do give and grant unto J. M. Ritchie & Co. assignees, a tract of land containing Two hundred acres lyng and Page 490 being in the County of Macon, Section No.___ in District No.___ it being part of the land lately acquired by Treaty from the Cherokee Indians and sold in obedience to an act of the General Assembly of the State, bounded as follows, Viz; on the waters of Betty's Creek beginning at a B. Oak in the State line on top of Masser's (?) Ridge, and then North 20 (degrees) West two hundred & twenty poles to a Chestnut oak near the Chestnut St_?_ thence North 60 (degrees) West one hundred & forty poles to a Birch on the side of the ridge Pole, then South 20 (degrees) East two hundred & Eighty- five poles to a Rock in the State line, then East one hundred & forty poles to the Beginning, as by the plat (?) hereunto annexed doth __?__ together with all Woods, Waters, Mines, Minerals, Hereditaments, and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appearing. To Hold to the said J. M. Ritchie & Co. assigness their heirs and assigns forever; Yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise, as our General Assembly from time to time may direct: Provided, always, That the said Grantee shall cause this Grant to be registered in the Register's office of our said County of Macon, within twelve months from the date hereof, otherwise the same shall be void. {Great Seal of the State of North Carolina} In Testimony Whereof, We have caused these our Letters to be made Patent, and our Great Seal to be hereunto affixed. Entered June 21st 1855 (?), as by the filah (?) hereunto annexed doth appear together with all Woods, Waters, Mines, Minerals, Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appearing.
